Basic Life Support + AED (3 hours)
This basic life support training course aims to help teach staff a basic knowledge of first aid – covering CPR, recovery position, bleeding, choking and shock.
By the end of this course you will:
- Understand the safe steps to take for responding to a medical emergency and the importance of a primary and secondary survey.
- Be able to recognise and respond to choking and severe breathing difficulties, including anaphylaxis or cardiac arrest.
- Know how cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is performed.
- Understand how to place someone in the recovery position.
- Understand the role of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) as well as how to locate and use one.
- Know the adaptations required for paediatric and infant basic life support.
Exams and assessment
Candidates will be assessed by their trainer throughout the data to ensure that all learning outcomes are achieved.
Successful learners will receive an FAIB basic life support certification
Entry requirements
There are no entry requirements for these first aid at work courses
However, candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures required to meet HSE assessment criteria.
